Vessels from New Zealand and Australia Join the Rescue Mission

Auckland, New Zealand – A massive search and rescue operation is underway after a cargo ship capsized off the coast of New Zealand, leaving 455 crew and passengers missing. The ship, identified as the "455 18K," was traveling from Singapore to New Zealand when it encountered rough seas and strong winds. According to witnesses, the ship suddenly capsized and disappeared below the waterline. New Zealand's Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) immediately dispatched multiple rescue vessels and helicopters to the scene. They are being assisted by vessels from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Authorities have confirmed that no survivors have been found so far. The search operation is currently focusing on locating the wreckage of the ship and any possible survivors. The 455 18K was carrying a crew of 363 and 92 passengers, including tourists and business travelers. The vessel was known to transport heavy machinery and other cargo. The cause of the capsizing is still under investigation. New Zealand Transport Minister Michael Wood has expressed his concern and offered condolences to the families of those missing. "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with those affected," said Wood. "We are doing everything we can to locate the missing persons and support the rescue efforts." International assistance has also been offered, with the United States and China expressing their willingness to provide resources and personnel.
